Sam Stone AS Media
Q7. Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
Looking back at my preliminary task, I can see that I have progressed a lot. When I started my preliminary task, I knew very little about media, and the different camera angles and editing techniques. My preliminary task was very experimental as I was unprepared. This cause me to have to improvise with the scripting and some of the camera angles. However I was still able to incorporate match-on-action, the 180 degree rule, and the shot-reverse shot. I also was able to keep the continuity throughout the piece, even though I was unprepared.
Thriller: Unlike my Preliminary task I was prepared for my Thriller Sequence. I had conducted some research into thrillers beforehand. Creating a questionnaire asking what potential audience members what they would want from a thriller, as well as researching the codes and conventions that are expected in thrillers. All of this helped me shape the Opening Sequence. I believe my thriller sequence is far better than my preliminary task, because of this research as well as an increased knowledge of different camera angles, and many different editing techniques which allowed me to achieve the desired affect I wanted to present to the audience.
